TBird Teaher Feature: Meet Mrs. Katie Cundall, special education teacher at NCHS. She is originally from Columbia, MO, has one cat Gizmo and a puggle Max. She was raised by her father in a single parent household. She knew she wanted to be a teacher when she was a senior in high school but it was her father’s support that led her to special education. She states, ” My dad supported me the most when I decided to switch to special education. I had a terrible experience observing a special education classroom during my pre-service hours in college and when I spoke to my dad about it he helped me decide the best way to fix that was to become a special education teacher myself and change things!” The thing she looks forward to the most in working with her NCHS students is ” Seeing their growth from year to year. I have a unique opportunity that most school teachers do not get which is to be able to work with the same kiddos all four years of their high school career.” When asked what Thunderbird Proud means to her, Mrs. Cundall said this, “Its hard to describe what Thunderbird proud means to me. Its not just one thing. Its not just being proud to be part of this amazing team at North Callaway. Its not just being part of these students life. Its just so hard to explain. But I definitely have it.” One thing people might not know about Mrs. Cundall is that in her free time, she enjoys learning how to work on cars.
