New Teacher Feature!

New Teacher Feature: Help us welcome former NC graduate, Don Boulware, as PE/Health teacher and Head Football Coach at NCHS. Describing himself as ENTHUSIASTIC, Mr. Boulware is ready for a great year! To get to know him, Coach was asked several questions…
1. Where are you from? Do you have children/grandchildren or a pet?
I grew up in Callaway County one mile north of Hatton and am a ThunderBird Proud graduate of the class of 1973 (YES…I know I’m old 

😉 I have a lovely wife of 28 years and we have three children.
2. Name an interesting fact about you and/or your family.
I coached football for 25 years before retiring from education and moving into sales with Graphic Edge in the Summer of 2001. 
My love for Coaching never waned during all that time and I coached many youth sports and last fall coached football again on the side at Troy Buchanan H.S. which highly rekindled my desire to get back into Education and Coaching as I retired from Sales this past June. 
I have a 101 year old Dad who resides at Fulton Manor and is active on Facebook. I have an older brother (Mike) who farms near Hatton and also works at The Callaway Bank. 
My wife, Anna, is an a professor and department chair in Accounting at St. Charles Community College. 
Anna and I have 23 year old twin daughters, and also a 20 year old son. 
Danielle is an RN and working as a full time nurse at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. She is also working towards a Masters in Nursing Education. 
Twin sister Alexandra is entering her 3rd year in Pharmacy school at SIU Edwardsville. 
Younger brother Tyler is in his 3rd year of college pursuing a Masters in Accounting at SIU Edwardsville
3. When did you first become aware that you wanted to be a teacher? 
When I was in HS at North Callaway we had a Club called Future Teachers of America (FTA) and we job shadowed for three days with a teacher in or respective field and I LOVED it and knew then I wanted to teach & coach.
4. Was there a special person in your life that influenced your decision to become a teacher?
YES! My North Callaway HS Football Coach, Jim Blacklock
5. What are you looking forward to the most in working with the students at NCHS?
Just being around young people again and hopefully being a good influence on them…and helping in some way to make a difference in their lives
6. What does Thunderbird Proud mean to you?
Proud & Passionate to represent not only your school…but your entire community as well!

Head Football Coach North Callaway!

Head Football Coach North Callaway

Don Boulware will lead the North Callaway Football team next season.  Coach Boulware is a graduate of North Callaway High School.  He comes to NCHS with a career record of 110 wins and 62 losses.  This past December Coach Boulware was selected to receive the Missouri Football Coaches Association “Paul Martel Outstanding Service Award”.  Some other coaching highlights include Iowa Class 1-A Coach of the Year , Iowa Northwest District Coach of the Year, and Missouri Southeast District Coach of the Year.  Coach Boulware’s teams have made the football state playoffs 4 years in Missouri and 3 years in Iowa with a state championship in Iowa.  Along with being the new head football coach, Coach Boulware will also be teaching PE and Health at NCHS.  North Callaway is very excited to have Coach Boulware returning to his alma mater to work with our students both in the classroom and on the football field.

TBird Teacher Feature

TBird Teacher Feature: Meet Kevin O’Neal, Algebra/Geometry teacher and Head Football Coach at NCHS. Coach is a homegrown boy, growing up here in North Callaway country he graduated form NCHS with the class of 1994. He is married to wife Kari and has two boys, Braydn and Coltyn who attend Auxvasse Elementary. Coach holds the Missouri state football record for tackles in a game. In his second year of college (after first wanting to be an engineer) coach realized he liked helping other students with their math. He always knew he wanted to be involved with sports, so being a math teacher and coach seemed like the path to take. When asked if there was a special person that influenced his decision to become a teacher, Coach O’neal had this to say, “I am fortunate that I get to work with the person that had a big influence in my decision to become a teacher. Coach Emmons has been a big influence in my life and continues to be a mentor to me.” Coach enjoys working with the students at NCHS and states, “I look forward to continuing to help the students and community of North Callaway be proud of our school.” Loyal is the one word that Coach said would describe him best. Being a homegrown Thunderbird, coach describes Thunderbird Proud as “supporting each other and working together as a family to be the best we can be.” Something you might not know about Coach is that he played tenor saxaphone in the high school band and in his senior year his saxaphone quartet received a 1 rating at state competition. He has also played bass guitar and drums in the praise band at his chrch. North Callaway is very fortunate to have Kevin O’neal part of the Thunderbird family!#ThunderbirdProud
