New Teacher Feature: Help us welcome former NC graduate, Don Boulware, as PE/Health teacher and Head Football Coach at NCHS. Describing himself as ENTHUSIASTIC, Mr. Boulware is ready for a great year! To get to know him, Coach was asked several questions…
1. Where are you from? Do you have children/grandchildren or a pet?
I grew up in Callaway County one mile north of Hatton and am a ThunderBird Proud graduate of the class of 1973 (YES…I know I’m old
😉 I have a lovely wife of 28 years and we have three children.
2. Name an interesting fact about you and/or your family.
I coached football for 25 years before retiring from education and moving into sales with Graphic Edge in the Summer of 2001.
My love for Coaching never waned during all that time and I coached many youth sports and last fall coached football again on the side at Troy Buchanan H.S. which highly rekindled my desire to get back into Education and Coaching as I retired from Sales this past June.
I have a 101 year old Dad who resides at Fulton Manor and is active on Facebook. I have an older brother (Mike) who farms near Hatton and also works at The Callaway Bank.
My wife, Anna, is an a professor and department chair in Accounting at St. Charles Community College.
Anna and I have 23 year old twin daughters, and also a 20 year old son.
Danielle is an RN and working as a full time nurse at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. She is also working towards a Masters in Nursing Education.
Twin sister Alexandra is entering her 3rd year in Pharmacy school at SIU Edwardsville.
Younger brother Tyler is in his 3rd year of college pursuing a Masters in Accounting at SIU Edwardsville
3. When did you first become aware that you wanted to be a teacher?
When I was in HS at North Callaway we had a Club called Future Teachers of America (FTA) and we job shadowed for three days with a teacher in or respective field and I LOVED it and knew then I wanted to teach & coach.
4. Was there a special person in your life that influenced your decision to become a teacher?
YES! My North Callaway HS Football Coach, Jim Blacklock
5. What are you looking forward to the most in working with the students at NCHS?
Just being around young people again and hopefully being a good influence on them…and helping in some way to make a difference in their lives
