New Teacher Feature!
New Teacher Feature: New Teacher Feature: Please welcome Ms. Danielle Greeves, Sp. Education Teacher, to NCHS! Describing herself in one word as “Outgoing”, we know that Ms. Greeves will be a vital member of our NCHS family! Ms. Greeves answered a few interview questions so we could get to know her a little better. ***Check out the last answer, Ms. Greeves traded Montgomery Co. blue to Thunderbird Green!!!*** #ThunderbirdProud
1) Where are you from? Do you have children/grandchildren or a pet? I am from Montgomery city! Decided to work for my high school rivals ? I have two huskies (Boomer & Timber) and two cats (Fred & Ted)
2) Name an interesting fact about you and/or your family.
An interesting fact is that my parents own Olivers Restaurant! It used to be in Montgomery City, but it is now in Warrenton. I have worked there for the last 5 years.
3) When did you first become aware that you wanted to be a teacher?
I decided I wanted to become a teacher after my encountering my favorite 8th grade teacher and then for sure after my freshman year of high school. I NEVER thought I would teach high school, but here I am!
4) Was there a special person in your life that influenced your decision to become a teacher?
My 8th grade science teacher is the most spectacular woman and educator I have ever met. She genuinely cares about every single one of her students and loves to watch them succeed. She is one of my favorite people.
5) What are you looking forward to the most in working with the students at NCHS?
I’m excited to teach kids like I got to grow up with and I think it will be a lot of fun! I am also very excited because this is my first official “big girl job” and NCHS seemed to be a perfect fit for that role!
6) What does Thunderbird Proud mean to you?
Thunderbird Proud to me means someone who is excited and feels/has good qualities about where they came from! They hold themselves to a higher set of values and carry themselves in a way that their fellow classmates, teachers, family members and friends would be happy to see! I am ecstatic and proud to be an official Thunderbird, so much I traded in my Montgomery County blue for Thunderbird green! ?

New Teacher Feature!
New Teacher Feature: We are excited to welcome Physics Teacher, Ms. Kalyn Meyer, to the NCHS family! Transferring here from Hatton-McCredie, she will be a great asset to our team! Ms. Meyer took a few minutes to answer some questions so that we could get to know her a little better…
1) Where are you from? Do you have children/grandchildren or a pet?
I am from Auxvasse, MO and currently live in Columbia. I have no children or pets but I do have a nephew named Grayson who was born in May and I love spending time with him!
2) Name an interesting fact about you and/or your family.
One of my favorite things to do in my free time is to play golf. It is something most of my family enjoys doing and it is so fun when we get to play together!
3) When did you first become aware that you wanted to be a teacher? (or an administrator?)
Being a teacher is something I had always thought about doing! My love for science began to grow around 5th grade and by the time I started high school I was pretty confident I wanted to be a science teacher.
4) Was there a special person in your life that influenced your decision to become a teacher (administrator)?
I had wonderful teachers during my time in North Callaway’s district and many of them played a part in my decision to be an educator! My biggest influence was Ashli Houchins, who I had for three years while at NC. Not only did I enjoy the content she taught me, her classroom was always a place I felt comfortable and cared for, and this inspired me to give and try that back to students. I am excited to have her as a coworker!
5) What are you looking forward to the most in working with the students at NCHS?
After four years of teaching junior high students at Hatton, I am looking forward to seeing how my past students have adjusted to being at the high school level. I am also looking forward to getting to know students from Auxvasse and Williamsburg and helping them get their high school careers started on the right track!
6) If you could describe yourself in one word, what would it be?
If I had to pick one word, I would pick dedicated. Whether it involves my family, my friends, or my job, I try and give everything I do my best effort no matter what it takes!
7) What does Thunderbird Proud mean to you?
Thunderbird Proud to me means always doing your part to make North Callaway the best it can be! This can range from wearing green and black on game days to show school spirit, supporting each other in the classroom, or helping with events in the community. Having love for North Callaway and all the people in it is being Thunderbird Proud! Make sure to give Ms. Meyer a T-Bird high five next time you see her! #ThunderbirdProud
