Teacher Feature
TBird Teacher Feature: Using one word to describe himself, Mr. Caleb Olson, chose the word “orderly”. Originally from Chariton Iowa, Mr. Olson is married and they have a pet cat. He first became aware that he wanted to become a teacher his freshman year of high school. He was helping fellow classmates with Algebra and realized he could do this for a living and do it well. He had many teachers along the way that inspired his decision. When asked to give an interesting fact about his family, Mr. Olson stated, “My grandma lied to my father and said that we were related to Calvin Coolidge (family members just lived near his family farm) and that her ancestors came over on the Mayflower.” Dedicated to his students at NCHS, he says he looks forward to working with students, “challenging them .and cultivating a respect for history,” We are fortunate to have Mr. Olson a part of the NCHS family. Well into his 3rd year here, he says that Thunderbird Proud means ” Giving effort in all things and caring about people.” A fun fact that most people wouldn’t know about Mr. Olson……”I eat the same thing for lunch at school everyday (PB&J, white cheddar cheez-its, propel, and an apple).” Not only does Mr. Olson teach history but he is also the sponsor of the NCHS Quiz Bowl Teams! Always available for students and parents to answer questions, stop by sometime and say hello. #ThunderbirdProud
